So far they've signed 4 quality free agents. Two pitchers with 6.00 era, a catcher hitting 151 and an outfielder hitting 189. World Series here we come!

Nutting isn’t going to pay or keep paying. If trying to win is going to cost money he’s not doing it.

The only hope is that the new regime can and continue to draft and develop players well enough to be “competitive”.

As to the Marte trade, any player that gets to the top of the Pirates payroll isn’t long for the team...and his salary will cover Hurdle, Huntington, etc..., contracts since they’re now paying 2 salaries for 1 job.

I’m curious to see if the new regime is going to develop the arrogance of the old regime and tell us how good these types of acquisitions are and how good they can be, all the while accumulating more losing seasons.

plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose. Some French guy from North Versailles came up with that one. Always applies to the Buccos.

Bingo

I’m curious to see how they’re going to try to carry out the “duping”, though. Many have finally realized the “we don’t make any money” excuse is no longer valid. I’m sure they’re counting on the “we need to get everything into place” excuse for quite a few years.
