I’d wager the majority. There are those that are obviously ridiculous, but many of the comments are extremely accurate if looked at impartially, anyway.

I would be willing to bet that all of the bike lanes in the city cost less than plowing roads and fixing the potholes for a single winter. I have no idea why comparisons of bike lanes to other major infrastructure issues is even a thing. Peduto’s administration picked up paving efforts significantly since he has taken office, and PWSA has been inching toward being better. Crumbling infrastructure is the direct result of deferred maintenance and the spending of generations past, where they took out loans against the future (in the form of pensions) without socking enough away at the time to make good on those promises.

Also, while I don’t generally read too many comment sections, especially the P-G, are people really talking about his sexuality with frequency? I recall that being a thing around election time but haven’t heard it in a few years.

I don’t really care about who this guy sleeps with.

I don’t think he is a very good mayor. The sad day for this city is when Luke Ravenstahl’s term ended. There was more development going on in different parts of the city under his watch. He wasn’t mayor north side or west end either. Downtown was totally revitalized under Luke and Lawrenceville happened because of his good partnership with UPMC and working with them to open Children’s Hospital at the old st Francis site. If children’s hospital doesn’t go there, Lawrenceville never happens like how it is today. The poster who complains all the time would’ve been able to afford living on butler street. However half the business district would still be vacant.

Oh and Luke didn’t pander to this community groups or protestors. He got development done. If it was good for the city.

Some have also complained about why mergers don’t happen. Luke was big for mergers. City services to Wilkinsburg and Ingram happened under his watch.

Again I don’t care who peduto is in bed with. He’s just a lousy mayor that cares only about his section of the city. No where else matters.

He was truly a marvel, what with the time travel involved. He became mayor in September 2006 and the steel of the building was finished by June 2006.

Children's Hospital final steel beams placed, as ex-CEO looks on

Oh and The beloved bike lane planning started under Luke.

Btw what has Peduto accomplished? What big development or neighborhood turnaround does he have on his watch? This is pedutos 5th year in office. The population grew under Luke not peduto.

That being said, perhaps ibike lanes are the media's priority and reporting on them.

This is a really silly way for people to look at things. Bike lanes are an addition to infrastructure that don't cost anything except a can of paint. The crumbling roads and water lines actually cost a ****ton of $$$ to fix/maintain. It's just not at all a one-to-one comparison.

As for the comments on the mayor's sexuality, it's really embarrassing to read those comments and paints Pittsburghers in a terrible light. It's nobody's business whom anyone sleeps with and there is not one single valid reason why anybody should care if he or anyone else is gay or straight.

I think the bike infrastructure started with Murphy.

This thread ranks as one of the worst ever on this board. Not only is the original topic trying to further spread rumors by attempting to discuss said rumors a wretched topic, but then it has devolved into someone bragging about the made up accomplishments of our former boy mayor.
