Good, glad they are letting the voters make the choice for themselves and not have some local borough try to hold on their “rings of power”. It should be annexed anyways, they are using so many of Pittsburgh’s resources, it only makes sense.

They are paying for it yes but are crazy high costs in comparison. The only way they could get any services is because of their real estate taxes being so high and even then they are struggling to maintain the 2/3 they are providing. This county simply has the problem of way too many cooks in the kitchen. It’s insane and items need to be consolidated. I honestly think if it goes to a referendum, I don’t think either or community would block it.

(Bellevue Borough has entered the chat). They are still utilizing our city's fire department resources for free and have been for months.

Don't we have something like 130 different municipalities in Allegheny County? That's just insane. So many of these communities shouldn't exist. Pittsburgh should, at the very least, annex Wilkinsburg and Mt. Oliver. One could argue that every other contiguous suburb is doing okay for itself at the moment (perhaps sans Bellevue, which is so broke they are now using the city's fire department for free).

I do think there will be some consolidation. For poorer communities surrounding Pittsburgh it makes sense. For wealthy places it would be a disaster.

Mt. Oliver and Wilkinsburg need to join the city. Apparently Bellevue, too, if their finances are in such dire shape.

I actually do things all that will happen. Just not enough funds to go around. It would be a win for all really. Not wealthy places, no way.

I disagree. Edgewood is still kinda wealthy, but if it went into the city, property taxes would fall considerably, and public school options would be considerably better.
