You guys were great on the first go around with towns that fit my criteria. It appears the answers I got were all the "upper" places to live such as Upper St. Clair, Mt. Lebanan, Fox Chapel, Sewickley, etc.
Besides from these, what towns are next if you were continuing this list?

Need to be 35-40 mins. drive time from center city, during rush hour!

Thanks in advance!

Bethel Park, Castle Shannon, Dormont. Close to the other areas you mentioned.

Check out Plum. I currently live there. I am 35-40 minutes from downtown during rush hour. Plum is a great neighborhood.

Ok, I see that Plum is broken down into 4 school districts. Are they all solid? Which ones should be avoided?
1) Plum Sr. HS
2) Forbes Rd East AVTS
3) Penn Hills Sr. HS
4) Gateway Sr. HS

Avoid Penn Hills. I don't know about #2 but #1 and #4 are good solid schools. I didn't see your other posts...could you tell me some of your criteria that you are looking for?

#2 is a "career tech" school.
#4 is technically Monroeville but I suppose some parts of Plum feed into it? ...good school, either way.

Out of the choices, probably wanna avoid Penn Hills Senior High

Here is a prev. post TexasGirl.

//www.city-data.com/forum/pitts...r-top-5-a.html

I have a hard time buying in a area(Plum) that doesnt have good schools(Penn Hills). Over time it seems like the bad brings down the good in a area. Maybe thats why other members recommended the Mt. Lebanon, Fox Chapel, UPS, etc??

Going north on route 8 there are several areas that meet your criteria except may be closer to 45 minutes to downtown on some days. Shaler (which should be 35 minutes or less), Hampton. Gibsonia--are within 45 minutes on most good days. I am not as familiar with Shaler school districts but the other two are great. Shaler will be much cheaper over all but you can find houses in the other two areas in your price range. You may also want to check out Indiana Township. About the same distance and is in Fox Chapel school district without the fox chapel prices. We rented there for a short time and really liked it.
