We are moving to Monesson from Philadelphia. Sorry guys try living here for awhile and Monessen looks like a great vacation spot. It takes a few to ruin a place but we are looking forward to our move . I've driven around the area several times and too bad for all you complainers. We hope to make this spot our forever home!!

Just a group of gangster copycat wannabes who have nothing better to do than to waste their lives away. I wonder if New Kensington has the same problem, or if it's just drugs up there?

Either this person has little taste or value in the area they chose to live, or, considering it's their one and only post, posted simply for a reaction. Either way, no one will fight you over living there.

Sorry about never posting before I am new to this too. As for lack of taste, sorry that you feel that way. I have lived in many areas including, New York area, Long Island, Westchester County , and 23 years in New Jersey in many different areas as well as 3 years in Philadelphia. I always was content to be where God lead us to be. You can either complain and be a part of the problem or choose to hold your head up and find some positive things to do and say. I've lived with millionaires and in a stable with the homeless. God saw me through in each situation. I believe He will do the same where ever I go if I continue to trust in Him. I'm excited about where He has led us to live now. I hope to be a blessing to my neighbors and the neighborhood.

I live out of state but go back to visit family quite often in Monessen. I had a grandfather who had his house broken into over 5 times in the 9th street area. Monessen is alright in some spots, but around the 9th street area, it is a ghetto.

Albeit a small ghetto, but they have had drug dealing, shootings, home invasions, and homes being broken into for years in that neighborhood.

I wouldn't try to write it off as "wanna B's" either. The bottom line is people get shot in Monessen so it would be stupid to play tough guy. I can think of at least a few shootings with guys from Monessen killing people in or around Pittsburgh.

Here are just a few right off the top of my head:

From what I know the area around 9th street Park was declining for a while... Then the rivalry set in with a few parts of Donora & Moneseen. Despite the "gangs" having a claiming turf in parts these small towns up the river in Clairton, Duquense, & McKeesport the crime issues are much worse.
