It seems Pittsbrugh's airport is finding equilibrium, though probably not coincidentally after the it lowered landing fees which had been among the highest (which, of course, made no sense for an airport seeing passenger declines)

American Airlines' regional affiliate American Eagle will add three daily nonstop flights from Pittsburgh International Airport to Chicago O'Hare Airport beginning in April 2010.
The carrier will also "enhance" service from Pittsburgh to Dallas/Fort Worth by flying larger MD-80 aircraft on the three daily flights to that airport, according to a prepared release from Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato.
With the addition of the flights to Chicago, American Eagle will have a total of six roundtrips between the two cities.

Total flights to O'Hare and Midway from Southwest, United and American will now total 19 a day. Very good service.

The problem is they have huge annual debt payments, so they had no choice but to respond to passenger declines by increasing landing fees. They are now using anticipated gambling money to offset the debt payments and somewhat lower fees, but they really need to do something about the debt (last I knew, they were thinking of selling the parking facilities).
