Actually, read the orginal letter again. Not excusing the local sports coverage, but he said he woke up on SUNDAY to find out what happened with the World Series. That wasn't the day the series was decided. I agree that it probably deserved a mention in the local sports during the middle of the Series, but I do specifically recall seeing on the local sports report in the middle of last week that Yankees had won the Series.
