Thanks Mr Humble. I actually sent a similar version of this to the Post Gazette and sure enough they put it in Friday's PG. If we could only get people in this town to think out of the box every once in awhile. A little separation via creativity, between us and the other regional cities that Pittsburgh competes with would be nice.
And as you noted, Pittsburgh rates very high in brain trust and the products that follow such. It's by far the greatest story of this region and yet it's the worse told and worse sold. Every market has a pottery barn, a public arena, cafes, and yes even green space. What every city does not have is a CMU, cutting edge technology, environmental tech, medical advancement, and quite possibly the worlds leading region for energy technology and development.
You want to grow a city ? You want to make a true statement to the nation and the world ? Then learn how to bring this creative brain trust together. Learn how to market these impressive Pittsburgh goods in such a way that links the city's industrial past with today's amazing educational and technological advancement along with these products that are changing the world right this very moment. Showcase all this under that one roof. Be creative and vibrant. Be loud and adventuresome. But most importantly, tell that story of Pittsburgh's past, present and future and showcase all the burgh's goods and products that a hungry planet demands. Welcome to the Pittsburgh technological and products Igloo! ' By golly did they just open the roof on that place for those far east leaders looking at a model version of a Pittsburgh made Westinghouse AP 1000 nuclear reactor? No I think it was opened for the german delegation looking at purchasing Pittsburgh based Maglav, Inc advance marine precision fabrication technology. Wow, very cool..
