Well, the people suing them say they don't.

I dont see whats wrong with Americans knowing at least some basic Spanish. Just like Hispanics who are not American should know some basic English. This country is made up of people who speak all kinds of languages.

I helped an hispanic neighbor start her car the other day. She spoke no english, I spoke no hispanic but we managed to get her car started with the help of a Sprite. For the battery corrosion. She didn't even offer me the left over drink.

U.S. Companies requiring Spanish speaking should be charged with discrimination.

It's increasingly common, at least in California, for employers to require that employees be trilingual in English, Spanish, and Chinese. Being bilingual is not enough.

How do you foresee the courts ruling on employers requiring people to speak Mandarin?

I was in Seattle last week. Many of the places where I ate or shopped were run by Asians. Some needed translators; some communicated poorly in English, but some were fluent. It's always been that way when I lived there and when I return to visit.

Even now in Oklahoma if I enter a nail salon I can barely communicate with most of the manicurists in English.

These women were just bullied by their racist employer. There is absolutely NO bona fide reason to require clothing sorters- who have no contact with customers- to speak English.

Why spanish? Why not Thai? Or Chinese, or Japanese? Why spanish?

Do they have contact with their employers? Or are you saying all employers must learn spanish to facilitate hispanics who refuse to learn english?
