The Plum Line - Sharron Angle: In wake of Gulf spill, we need to "deregulate" Big Oil

...and yet another rock overturned by the right to find this whacko candidate.

And TPM reports that Angle embraced the patriot group "Oath Keepers," which warns members to resist some sort of nefarious plot that apparently exists -- who hatched it is unclear -- to create "giant concentration camps."

Big Oil and Banking are two of the most highly regulated industries in the United States, yet look what happened...our financial system nearly collapsed in 2008 and now we have a disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.

Maybe she has a point

THEY don't at all understand what you are talking about because THEY are always told by those at the top rungs of the governmental ladder that there must be more regulation. They don't know that the next step would have to be the government taking over the oil business just like they did the auto manufacturing.

Maybe she does, in fact, have a point. I am convinced that the Dems will dwell on this in hopes that they can keep Reid with it, however.

And as we are sadly finding out..highly regulated "on paper only".
Seems very few of the regulations are actually implemented or overseen and managed by both industry and government.
Exemptions and waivers is how they seem to operate.

The calls for "regulate more" or "deregulate" really mean nothing.
These corporations are going to do what they want to do because they own the government.

This article was an eye opener, for me. Who's actually doing the regulating? It's not as clear cut as I imagined.

Nation & World | Offshore oil rigs are out of U.S. government's reach | Seattle Times Newspaper

Quote:
The Deepwater Horizon oil rig that exploded in the Gulf of Mexico was built in South Korea. It was operated by a Swiss company under contract to a British oil firm. Primary responsibility for safety and other inspections rested not with the U.S. government but with the Republic of the Marshall Islands — a tiny, impoverished nation in the Pacific Ocean.
It's apparent that the US government had very, very little authority over the Deepwater Horizon rig.

Yeah, because I sure as hell can't figure out when the government took over "auto manufacturing."

More lies.

This is what happens when you listen to Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck religiously and take their word as the gospel truth.

Angle might be a whacko but Harry Reid never stood up for Las Vegas when Obama told people not to spend their money there. She might win because Harry Reid has no spine.
