Anmesty will not stop the crime. The cartel is growing larger and larger. The wars between the factions are brutal and violent. The cartel has infiltrated the US in major cities and are even fighting for control in our cities.

At least once per week, if not more, our local paper has articles like "young Hispanic male found dead (under bridge, along highway, in cul de sac). The article ends with "...police are investigating". Then the incident disappears off the map with no followup on cause of death.
This is the same dang pattern that showed up in south Florida with the cocaine wars and it was infighting among the groups for turf control.

People are naive to think this is staying on the south side of our border.
Regan proved to us that amnesty for illegals only encourages more illegals.

Obama and Co. are trading American border security for votes. A clear dereliction of duty by HS Sec. Janet "Incompetanto" and the Campaigner-in-Chief. The thing that really chaps my backside is that this is virtual abdication of duty inadequate reaction by the Executive branch and DHS is calculated and timed to create the greatest possible tensions on our Southern border just prior to the November elections. If Obama has the opportunity to suspend elections via a declaration of Marshall law he not above allowing this "crisis" to become full blown. And yes, I really do think his puppeteer is that calculating.

I think Americans are the problem about the drug war...If Americans stop to consume drugs this war will be over quickly.
Maybe I'm just a young student but I hate drugs...

1. End the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, remove all military troops from all Islamic countries. More the troops to the Mexican border. The narcowar is a much bigger threat to national security.

2. End the drug wars, cut out the money supply from the cartels.

There has been no drug war. The cartels were practically handed control over the border and the border has been kept completely open to them.

Even if there were a drug war, why do you think the cartels would simply quit? The money would still be there for them, there is already more than enough money in it for them now, but it's the immensity of their greed that pushes them to fight over the open borders.

They would still kill - drugs are now legalized in Mexico and they're still killing each other in Mexico. Each cartel wants it all - it's total greed that motivates this, and that wouldn't end just by allowing them to legally bring their drugs over the border to poison Americans.

Nice thought but an impractical ideology.

Unfortunately, America needs to legalize drugs to poison its own citizens. The market is already open for it. The United States needs to grow its own supply of drugs, sell them in legitimate shops, tax the sales. Compete with the Mexican cartels at their own game.

Either that or we tick off the Mexicans and create a massive flood of immigrants by starting a ground and air war over cartel held territories. Which well, considering our success in Afghanistan and Iraq...

How? Arrest American pot heads? People on this forum are quick to label illegals as 'criminals' but give criminal pot heads a pass. They should be treated the same way the right wants to treat illegals - and don't reward them by decriminalizing marijuana.

Pot is the least of the problems. If you let someone grow that stuff in their closets, a chunk of the problem would go away. No money to Mexico, much less fighting over the trade in our own streets.

Competing with them gets you killed. That's what this is all about, kill the competition and with the border wide open, what makes you think they won't kill an American meth lab owner who threatens any of their profits? Or that they won't do to an American pot trafficker what they do to their own?

Making these guys completely legitimate is not going to help the situation at all. Making it legal for them to transport whatever drug and anything else over the border isn't going to slow them down whatsoever. It's already easy enough - why make it much more so?
