Might have something to do with the Dems not coming up with a way to pay for those benefits. After all, Pay-Go was the brainchild of the Dems.

Stop the already!

Citizens get a vote by electing their Congressional representatives. The problem is that voters are generally lazy and uninformed. They fail to know how their reps will vote once sent to office. Power corrupts and term limits might keep a few honest. If not it will limit the damage they can do.

Not to mention voters generally go for personality over substance. They'll vote for the vague politician that promises hope and change instead of the one that has detailed plans but not much charisma. Chris Christie is an example of a real politician

When has the GOP ever repealed a big government program the Democrats have instituted? ObamaCare is here to stay don't be fooled into believing the GOP will do something about it. The GOP probably will not grow the federal government they will probably keep it the same size as the Democrats will leave it, and then they will screw up and **** off the people and the Democrats will come on and the cycle repeats itself. The Democratic Party grows the government, the Republican Party maintains it. Besides my fellow conservatives, do you forget who brought us the Patriot Act? Republicans did. Everyday liberals wanted it repealed but did the Democrats repeal it? Of course not, they renewed it. What makes you think the Republicans are any different now than in the past? Sheesh
The only way the republicans can repeal Obamacare is to gain a veto-proof majority in both houses of Congress. Without that, even if they repeal Obamacare, Obama will veto the bill and the republicans won't have the votes to override his veto. As much as I hate to say it, we're stuck with this turkey.

Obama had detailed plans...he just didn't tell anyone what they were.

Once again, the GOP has proven that it is far better at playing politics than the Democratic Party is. The GOP will likely get the House of Representatives back, just as it wanted.

Ultimately though, once the GOP actually has to govern again, I think Americans will remember why we threw them out to begin with in 2006.
And what was the tactic that the dems used going into 2006? Answer: Obstruction.

The GOP is just running the same playbook as the Dems. It worked for the Dems and now it will work for the GOP.

The real problem is both parties are too extreme. There are'nt strong enough moderate factions on either side to draw the extremes into some horse trading and deal making. Its all "100% to me - I win, 0% to you - you lose". So the only play for the minority to call is to walk away from the table all together - not a sign of a healthy democracy.

And let the Dems explain why the extension of unemployment benefits can't be paid out of the unspent stimulus money that was appropriated 18 months ago. That's all that the Republicans are asking for. In fact about half the stimulus remains unspent. And the Dems want to borrow more money for the extension of benefits? When is enough enough for these people?

I don't find the Dems extreme at all. If they were, we would've had a socialist takeover of healthcare (i.e. single-payer). That's what we liberals wanted.
