Under the provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act passed in 1998 the Obama administration has shut down 73,000 blogs this week which were hosted on the Blogetery.com WordPress based hosting service. Initially the target was a small group of sites which were involved in illegal file sharing, but ultimately a request was issued to BurstNet, the Blogetery.com's hosting provider, to shut down the entire network of 73,000 blogs, most of which were engaged in no illegal activity, including harmless sites like Science Experiments for Kids and political sites like Tea and Politics (http://teaandpolitics.blogetery.com/i - broken link).
When those people who question why many of us see us as losing our Freedoms, i'll kindly point them to this thread. It amazes me the amount of shallow-thinkers in this nation. The constant widdling-away of our freedoms are adding up every single day, but to the shallow-minded, without an all out Act of Congress repealing the Bill of Rights, they simply don't believe that we, as Americans, are losing the freedom that we enjoy.

It's sad. It's shameful. It's dangerous.
What's funny is that is all we heard, over and over again, during the Bush Years yet we hear NOTHING anymore. Are people no longer upset because Obama is now the one taking our freedoms away?
But they're doing it for your own good. They are protecting us from ourselves.
Rather then target the ones illegally sharing files, they did a blanket shutdown. Not good IMO but where is the outrage from the MSM on this ?
They are supposedly the biggest proponents of the First Amendment since upholding it is their livelihood.
Copyright violations are not protected speech people.
Sheesh.
If the government has a problem with copyright infringement, then it should go after the individuals, not the blogs. Where will the government draw the line? That's what should scare you.
