Republicans delay vote on U.S. jobless benefits | Reuters

"This latest move gives the partisan minority 30 more hours to stall in the Senate, but that means 30 more hours of suffering for these hard-working families trying to get by," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.

Republicans never delayed votes when they were in charge because it wasn't paid for. This is just partisan rhetoric. They don't care that what they are doing is ruining lives.

Do you remember Pay Go? How come the Dems refuse to pay for it with one of the 4 ways mentioned by the GOP? Why won't they use unused TARP funds?

The Republicans have offered a way to pay for it from the unused stimulus funds. Furthermore, the Dems have a super majority and enough votes to pass this in the House and send it to the Senate. So why haven't they done this is the better question? Is is a Kubuki theater just to blame the opposing party? Seems so here.

That's exactly what it is, it's getting close to elections.

Lets just extend the benefits to the unemployed indefinitely. Hell, lets just raise it to what each person was making at there prior job and then we can simply erase the high unemployment numbers we're seeing.

Would this work for you?

99 WEEKS isn't enough?

The big problem is there are jobs out there but MOST people don't want to take a pay cut because they think they're still worth x amount of dollars. It's easier to stay on UE than go to work for less money.Maybe if they lived within their means more and saved for bad times they wouldn't be so dependent on UE!

I agree. To listen to them talk about sky rocketing deficits that they helped bring to fruition (some might say they're chiefly responsible for them) is amazing. Where was this fiscal conservatism when they were passing Medicare Part D? We're still waiting for them to tell us how they plan to fund that. They really do have some gall.
