Tax Cuts for High-Income Americans Depend on Democrats Blinking

One one hand hand Obama promised not to raise taxes on those making less than 200/250k. And on the other hand the Republicans will say he doesn't have enough tax revenue to offset the continued tax cuts for those making less than those amounts.
It seems like all politicians (republicans and democrats) just want to kick this bucket down the road until after the election. But they can't because they must act very quickly.
All Americans will see their taxes go up unless Congress acts. There is no easy answer for either political party on this. Even Democrats in wealthy areas like some parts of suburban Washington DC are very worried about trying just tax those making over $250K.
And Americans are concerned about raising deficits with no extra tax revenue projected if the Bush tax cuts are extended.
