Anyone who says otherwise doesn't realize how much pork is in every bill and how inefficient and stupid our government spending is.
Slash defense by 66%? Slash education by 66%? Slash transportation and roads by 66%?

If you think that's politically possible then may I interest you in some sea front land I have in Iowa?

Obviously we must continue them.

In the last 8 years there certainly have been no recessions, no increase in the deficit, and no budget shortfalls.

So those tax cuts must have worked.

Here is my queston for Dems. If Obama does end up extending these cuts how will you react? My guess is that at least 90% will cheer Obama on and say he is doing what needs to be done. They will say they were against it to begin with but with the economy struggling to recover we just can't risk not extending these cuts for the wealthy.. There will be all kinds of excuses and justfications. The same exact people who were critical of Bush on this issue will celebrate Obama.

Personally I hope he does extend the cuts. Afterall the entire 53% of the population who pays income tax will have their taxes raised if these cuts are not extended. At the same time I have much more respect towards the Dems who would turn against Obama over this issue, if it even comes down to it. I don't have a good feel for whether he'll extend these cuts or not.
Three key Dem senators have made noise about extending ALL the tax cuts.

I hope they let the tax cuts expire so the government can get more money to do its wonderful work. My favorite program was when they overpaid (on purpose!) for a bunch of used cars, then CRUSHED them! What a great way to spend money! Maybe next time they can overpay for a bunch of old big-screen TV's, then throw them off skyscrapers.

The other great idea that came from Obama is to NOT take the low bid on government work, but accept higher bids instead. If you are going to waste money, nothing like doing it efficiently.

On second thought, maybe they should simply waste less money and keep the taxes the same.

Yeah? The tax cuts are in place now and have been in effect for some time..and how's that working out for us?

Why would we expect people who are not creating jobs now to do so in the near future? I say the collection of more taxes- much as we all hate them- is the best bet right now to help with the deficit. Businesses WITH the tax cut in place are NOT stepping up to the plate. Wish they were, but they aren't.

The stimulus failed primarily because it provided too much money for pork and the rest, that got spent, went to governments to build infrastructure. Not a bit of that money was aimed at helping businesses recover and we still haven't spent at least 1/3 of that money. I don't know how much longer he can wait to "buy" votes for this fall with that money, but it can't be much longer.

How the dips in Congress allowed themselves to be taken in by that Stimulus is beyond me. They had to know that the bill was largely written at the Appollo Alliance by the people of Jeff Jones.

Part of the problem, is that people that can spend, aren't. People just need to spend. I just got back from a week in Biloxi, spending. When I left, the Beau Rivage was breaking ground on their new "Floridabob" wing of the Casino.

The remedy that has been offered here so many times is "cut spending". Not a bad idea, but what do you do about all the money that has already been spent?
What you don't do is spend more. It is time to allow our businesses to make it without spending any more government money.

When will you people recognize that many businesses want to expand which would bring more jobs but they are not sure they won't be paying higher taxes after January 1? Somehow that seems pretty simple to understand to me but some just refuse to look at it without their biases in gear.

Watch the "conservatives" lie and spin. Remember when they pretended to care about the deficit? Now watch them advocate exploding the deficit for the benefit of the extremely wealthy.
How can that explosion take place if the government stops spending money right and left like a drunken sailor? If it isn't spent no more borrowing needs to be done other than to pay off some of the debt. Do you really think that leaving the cuts in place and cutting back on government spending won't work?

Business will expand it's production, when people buy more of their products. The taxes the Company may pay will, as always, become part of the price of the product.
