America still owes a debt to its black citizens, but government programs to help all 'people of color' are unfair. They should end.

I think this is quite a surprise, coming from a Democrat. He argues that affirmative action programs especially hurt poor whites.

I think we need to talk about phasing them out with realistic time lines. This isn't an all or nothing situation but the training wheels shouldn't be a thing that lasts forever. It becomes a handicap unto itself and can create more problems than it solves.

AA gives preferential treatment to someone based solely on the color of their skin; that's the very definition of racism. MLK spoke out against it 40 years ago, and we should too. Fighting one form of racism with another form of racism is ironically odd.

I almost wasn't sure. I can see some AA to correct some of the long-term effects of slavery and institutionalized racism but we're getting to the point where it needs to be phased out. Also there should be no AA for other than blacks as it was only blacks who suffered slavery and Jim Crow laws but more and more the case is that some group gets here and the first thing they do is start demanding their rights and quotas.

People should be hire for many other reasons.

Someone's race should not be even on an application.

AA has been wrong, racist and discriminatory.

Hire the most talented, experienced, skilled worker for that particular job no matter what color they are.

Being that whites will soon be the minority...I think we should keep them!

AA should be taken out! Everytime a forum other than the census asks for my race, I always check no answer.

Any public policy scheme that "caters" to a narrow constituency is bound to "hurt" those not a part of that constituency.

Eliminating official poverty via the already existing mechanism of unemployment compensation that conforms to state at-will employment laws, a federal doctrine, and our Ninth Amendment could make affirmative action programs obsolete; while not targeting any specific "constituency".
