WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A judge in the District of Columbia has dismissed a case against a dry cleaner who was sued for $54 million in damages over a pair of missing pants.

Roy L. Pearson, an administrative law judge, originally sought $67 million from the Chung family, owners of Custom Cleaners. He claimed they lost a favorite pair of his suit trousers and later tried to give him a pair that were not his.

Custom Cleaners did not violate the city's Consumer Protection Act by failing to live up to Pearson's expectations of the "Satisfaction Guaranteed" sign displayed in the store window, Superior Court Judge Judith Bartnoff ruled.

Pearson claimed that a sign was an unconditional warranty that required the defendants to honor any claim by any customer without limitation.

Good to hear that there's a judge out there who has a shred of common sense.

I wonder if Pearson has to pay court costs and the legal bill of the cleaners. If there were any justice he would.

I read that he was ordered to pay cout costs, not sure about the cleaner's legal bills, hopefully so.

What a waste of the court's time but at least it appears it ended well.

Default Yes!!

That idiot who brought this lawsuit is losing his job now, the DC government is not re-newing his appointment.

"By the middle of next week, Roy Pearson, the D.C. administrative law judge who sued his neighborhood dry cleaners for $54 million and lost, will receive a letter that starts the process of putting him out of a job." Full report at: Raw Fisher

He's FINALLY gone, as of 30 Oct. This guy is a total jerk. Legal costs piled up by the Korean couple he sued forced them to close 1 of their 2 dry cleaning stores. I can only imagine how stupid the USA looks to their relatives in Korea. See: washingtonpost.com

I do feel bad for that poor family. This idiot did a lot of damage to them. They should be able to sue him.

Wow, what a jerk. I'm sorry this sort of thing has to happen to hard working families. They deserve better than to be harrassed like this.
