People against democracy and for corporatist interests have been slurring the word "liberals" into a derogatory tone for decades, pronouncing it "lib...urrr...als" and demonizing democracy-leaning folks.
the modern liberal is a slur

liberals are not about liberty,, they are about controlling the masses

they started out with the progressive movement in the late 1880-90's and have been trying to push this country to marxism and socialism since..in the 1930's and 40's when the term "progressive' got its black eye from the european wars (ww2) they changed their moniker to liberal..but they are still the same, they want to push socialism, on the masses so everyone is poor (no middleclass) and you have a few elite liberals controlling everything

progressives (aka liberals, aka social democrats) are maggots to society

As long as I can say the word "conservative" or Repubotards with disgust it's fine with me. Some Repubes are so dumb they don't know that liberalism is the historical foundation of everything they hold dear. LOL.

These terms and political labels are all stupid. People should just talk about the topics at hand. When "YOU LIBBBERALS... BLAH BLAH BLAH" becomes part of an argument for the conservs, the argument becomes circular and devoid of intelligent thought. That's what brainwashing does.

Wow, it does not take much to get some people's panties in a bunch. How is the pronunciation of "lib...urrr...als" considered demonizing someone?

liberals (ie progressives) were the one here IN AMERICA that were supporting hitler in the 1930's

Progressives also believed that industrialization had led to social “disintegration” and materialistic decadence throughout America.

progressives looked favorably on the policies and ideals of Italian and German fascism in the 1920s and 1930s;

"The aim of socialism is not only to abolish the present division of mankind into smaller states and all-national isolation, not only to bring the nations closer to each other, but also to merge them." ....Zbigniew Brzezinski advisor to carter, clinton and obama.....""This is a form of Socialism known as fascism, and it will be the type of world government the power elite plans ultimately to bring about and control. In this government, the power elite will control politicians who will become government leaders who will promulgate laws, rules and regulations favorable to certain transnational corporations"""

As an ardent admirer of Marx, Benito Mussolini (1883-1945) called his version of Marxist socialism "Fascism" (2). Instead of nationalization--government ownership--of private business, Mussolini advocated government control of business via complete bureaucratic regulation.

""Fascism is a system in which the government leaves nominal ownership of the means of production in the hands of private individuals but exercises control by means of regulatory legislation and reaps most of the profit by means of heavy taxation. In effect, fascism is simply a more subtle form of government ownership than is socialism."" Mussolini

here is the start of the progessives in america......1888, the year [when socialist] Edward Bellamy's novel Looking Backward burst on the American scene.” Set in the year 2000, this futuristic book depicts a utopian society run with the hierarchical efficiency of a military battalion. All workers in this idealized world belong to a unified “industrial army” that labors within the confines of an economy controlled by a coterie of central planners who are deemed to be more capable of fostering prosperity and productivity than is a free marketplace. A preacher in the story lauds the earthly paradise, while the population at large looks back upon the “age of individualism” with a blend of amusement and derision.

Bellamy's book became immensely influential, selling hundreds of thousands of copies. It was particularly effective at setting afire the hearts of idealistic young people who were moved by the author's vision of a socialist utopia. All across America, “Nationalist Clubs” were formed to advocate for “the nationalization of industry and the promotion of the brotherhood of humanity.”

liberals will destroy this country

It's fine for you to say Repubotards with disgust, and fine for me to call you something lower than that. Liberalism is not the historical foundation of all we hold dear. That would be called civilization, produced by a structure of law and order. The secondary result is the enjoyment of liberal benefits of individual freedom and self-actualization, guaranteed by our Constitution, which must be interpreted in a conservative way, or else the governing structure grows bigger and bigger and ever more powerful through loose, "liberal" interpretation.

Agreed... we can call people from various parties whatever we wish.

Here is something:
The phrase
classical liberalism is also sometimes used to refer to all forms of liberalism before the twentieth century, and some conservatives and libertarians use the term classical liberalism to describe their belief in the primacy of economic freedom and minimal government.

Actually, I think it's respectful to state "liberal". I've never heard anyone draw the word out when pronouncing it, maybe that's a geographic accent thing. Would you prefer blood sucking parasites? That's what I equate with the term liberal, but out of respect, I state liberal.

Heheheheheh....................................... .

Slur away!
If that's the kind of person I'm dealing with, I'll speak much more slowly and use smaller words, so his/her tiny brain can understand me?

If someone wants to call me a name because of my ideas and/or beliefs, I say let em.
I really don't care what label someone uses to describe me.
If they feel they have to throw out the "lib" or "re-pub" card then that is their limited immature thinking.
Go for it.
