The dire predictions by the gun grabbers have been proven false. Comparisons from the first half this year and the first half of the last 3 years.

I suspect that, rather due to only one cause, the drop in the violent crime rate in the District since the Supreme Court decision was more a case of continuing the drop that the District has witnessed for several years.

During the period of 1995 through 2008, violent crime in the District dropped 46 percent.

Armed robbery is one thing. A gunfight is quite another. Criminals generally want your money but are not really ready to risk their lives for it. Gunfights can be lethal.

All citizens should be commended for defending themselves from the criminal vermin who increasingly run amok in this Nation. For too long across this Nation, criminals, thugs, psychos, predators, and low-lifes have recognized, it's easy pickings. They aren't intimidated by a mostly unarmed public, overworked Law Enforcement, or the revolving door of the criminal justice system.

Standing up to (and legally eradicating) hoodlums as they attempt to wreak havoc and inflict horror upon a multitude of innocents, should be the duty of good, law-abiding, and armed citizens.

The Courts and Police are demonstrably inadequate and undependable with regard to personal protection. Instead, our "Leaders" warn us to "lock your doors", "don't walk alone to your car at night", "stay out of that neighborhood", "hide your packages from sight", "don't fight them", "don't confront them", "don't antagonize them", "don't look them in the eye", "give them what they want", "don't arm yourselves"-----ad nauseum.

Disturbingly, too often in America; primary rights belong to criminals----and jail cells can await the citizens who attempt to protect and defend lives, property and loved ones.

Wholly unacceptable, for a free society to live in fear, apprehension....or on their knees.

I'm sure many of the rightwing nutters on here would consider me anti-gun because I support common sense regulation. I've never owned a gun, never intend to own a gun, haven't shot one since I was 13 and in the Boy Scouts, never intend to ever shoot a gun, and quite frankly I get a little weirded out by people who like to talk to me about their guns.

That said I don't live in fear of criminals - or in fear in general. I'm not apprehensive. And I spend relatively little time on my knees.
