What I said was people are hurting racism by calling every single thing that has to do with a minority racist is hurting racism. Because people are going to ignore the actual acts of racism. Because you all have accused everything of being racist Kinda like the little boy that cried wolf.

Maybe you shouldnt try and distort mine then

I am saying that. Making a joke about trying to get a dog on welfare is NOT racist. Hence a dog isnt it a race. You are just upset that the person trying to get the dog welfare was said to be black. You are trying to make the dog into a person. Which is impossible

I think there may be more to this e-mail story than we know. How it got forwarded is not known. It may be a set up. Political parties do that to each other. I'd be interested in knowing who send the e-mail to him, and who had access to his e-mail account besides himself.

Maybe it's just *made* to look like it came from his e-mail address. That's been done before.

Actually, you are incorrect, the dog was said to be black, not the person trying to get the dog on welfare. Get it right. It was racist. Did you even read it because you keep saying things incorrectly. Did you not get the joke? The man said that his dog should qualify because he's black and lazy. Please don't pretend that you haven't heard the constant derogatory remarks about blacks being lazy welfare recipients. How insensitive can you get? Sheesh. We are not going to overlook racism just because you say so or you don't think it's racist or keep our mouths shut. I have many discussions on race without acusing someone of being racist but when it quacks like a duck...

It's been known to happen that a person claimed their dog as a dependent for tax purposes. I don't know what color the dog was in those cases, but it did happen a few times.

Oh and on the flip side of free speech, we also have the right to defend ourselves using speech and speak out about which we disagree with. You can't have it both ways. You're upset because people have expressed their dismay with this statement but then talk about free speech. It's not just for people who agree with you!
If you dont know that a dog can NOT be on the same level as a person. I dont know what to tell you. Seriously. The joke never even said that the person was on welfare Just joked about getting their dog on welfare. Its a joke. I think some needs to lighten up.

No one is saying you dont have the right to defend yourself. You have free speech also. I just think we need to stop this PC world or we wont have free speech anymore. Heck we really dont have it now. People dont feel they can say whats on their mind without there being a chance of punishment. Do I think someone should just be hateful no. Do I think people need to be able to tell a joke yes.

Do I think Juan Williams should be fired for saying his opinion. No
Do I think Imas should have been fired NO Because we have a double standard on what one race can say and what the rest can say.

So basically we have a delusional segment on this board who say, "gee,I don't see anything racist here. The poor guy was just comparing black people to dogs", then we get the pseudo "intellectuals" who attempt to water down the incident with the, "show me where...what's the statistics...it's the blacks fault because they support the Democrats and not us, they want welfare. We have the conservative party blow hards who roll out the, "well it's justified because the Democrats said...or the look what a black comedian said, and we all know the comedian has as much influence over people's lives as the leader of a political party.

Then there was the truly pathetic attempt to suggest that the conservatives and tea party has not demonstrated a clear pattern of this racist propaganda, but we have to contend with this

Uk/SnCmMJKUJ2I/AAAAAAAACDk/_z3D3M-hRlM/s400/Obama-Bling-Bling--25322.jpg (broken link)

or the instances of conservative remarks actions and behaviors listed below,

..Bartholomew just the latest conservative leader to lose his job or damage his credibility after racist emails have become public. Several months ago, the former chair of the Tea Party Express, Mark Williams, got himself in hot water after his racist emails were exposed. Williams later resigned from the Tea Party Express after another flap over racially-tinged Internet comments.

In New York, Republican gubernatorial nominee Carl Paladino has faced a barrage of questions after his racist and pornographic emails were published.

And in July of last year, prominent health care reform opponent Dr. David McKalip caused a stir when his email depicting President Obama as a witch doctor was exposed.

So on one hand we are supposed to believe that these people in office or running for office are the best and brightest the country has to offer and on the same hand believe they are so stupid and naive as not to know when something is obviously racist, sexist, stereotypical, or just inappropriate in it's nature.

The attempt to divert, water down, and explain it away are truly transparent and indicative of the so called "conservative" mind set.

A dog is not a person. Trying to get a dog on welfare does not make them a person. They would still be a dog. Just be a dog getting welfare. It is a joke. A joke about getting a dog on welfare. Lighten up. No one is calling a person a dog. No matter how much you want it to.

No and dogs can't be employed or get welfare either...it's a joke. A racist and tacky one. It is kind of funny that you are upset because people have a problem with this and are being vocal about it.
