Finally someone that is honest about the tax cuts.

[LEFT]"STOCKMAN: The top five percent have gained more wealth than the whole human race had created prior to 1980. .........

...If these people were all put into a room on penalty of death to come up with how much they could cut, they couldn't come up with $50 billion, when the problem is $1.3 trillion. So, to stand before the public and rub raw this anti-tax sentiment. The Republican Party, as much as it pains me to say this, should be ashamed of themselves."

Stockman was all about increasing taxes on EVERYBODY because he said increasing taxes on the top 5% isn't even going to cover any of the deficit.... He supports having the same BIGGER government and higher taxes... news to Stockman, we want SMALLER government and lower taxes... he does concede that it is possible to have smaller government but he says that "nobody" wants to cut programs... well, that's why we got to get rid of the liberals, they don't want to cut ANY programs... we need someone to have the balls to cut programs and at this time, its the GOP... funny how the GOP are going to save Americans real money instead of spending it like the liberals...

The typical liberal solution- spend into insolvency, allow chaos to erupt, and try to reconstruct an economy and society from the ashes. Now that IS "clever".

Federal revenues have increased over the last 50 years. However, federal spending has outstripped those increased revenues.

Delusional- If you had a job that paid you personally $1.4 trillion per year and you spent $2.7 trillion, would you say that you have a spending problem, or a revenue problem? Further, let's say that your generous income was 4-5X greater than that of your neighbors, yet you still had a higher debt. Is that a spending problem or a revenue problem.

It is interesting to examine the liberal "thought process", as there tends to be little thought involved in the process.

The bottom 50% pay no tax at all and the top 10-20% paying far less than in previous years. Yes they need to cut spending but also need to change the tax structure. Neither party is willing to make any significant cuts but both are telling you they can lower taxes, sure sounds like pandering to the electorate.

Stockman was Regans budget director and their focus was reducing taxes to promote a free market economy. Also they were supposed to be about smaller government but that didn't work out quite as well. It appears he has had a change of heart on taxes. This isn't a liberal/conservative concept, both parties love their programs. The so called conservatives won't touch social security or medicare.

It was nice to see somebody finally talk realistically about facing the music. We've been riding from one bubble to the next for decades, and now it's time to pay up. Neither side want to really do anything about it, which just compounds the problem. Americans want a certain life style but don't feel they should pay for it. They talked about 'kicking the can down the road', and we've done it long enough.

Reality is we all must pay more taxes if we're interested in sustaining the way of life we've had the last 30 yrs. Unfortunately I don't see anybody doing jack squat about it anytime soon. Nobody has the balls to tell America the truth, all they want to do is point fingers.

Why do you think we have a "spending problem", now? Because we didnt have enough tax revenue to pay for previous expenditures, because no admin had the nerve to raise them, though all the while outsourcing jobs and even cutting taxes further to stay in favor. They've all cut spending or passed costs on to the states or just juggled numbers around, as far as they could, trying not to ruffle feathers. One even started a war to jam our nozzle firmly into the oil trough in the mideast once and for all. Now the buck has landed here and the current occupant is trying to clean up all that mess, which is global now. But what, you didn't want it cleaned up? I guess not. But "give you the car keys"? No, though you're welcome to help navigate.

You seem stuck in the past of about a year ago. GM is nearly 100% turned around with an IPO coming soon; Chrysler's on the way out of the hole it and GM (and Ford, even) were allowed to dig themselves into for decades. TARP loans are being paid back with billions in interest. The stimulus money sent to the states, even though they mishandled much of it, has created or saved 3.5 million jobs so far -- in a transitional economy. The health insurance reform act will reduce the deficit according to the CBO, and none of the coffee-stained, corner-stapled Repug "plans" would have done so nearly as well.

Dosn't it get stuffy in that fantasy bubble sometimes?
