Canada has it right on immigration. They actually want people with education and skills that bring benefit to their country and economy and not suck the life out of it. Oh Canada!

Never mind if you cannot tell the difference between a cook and a chef. Just bear in mind that in Canada any kitchen worker is more important than a Harvard-trained lawyer or a top-rate computer scientist.
It is a sensible point. I hesitate to point out that a Harvard-educated lawyer is going to be educated in US law, and therefore be much less useful than a cook outside the USA in any case.

Not that I'm suggesting Harvard educated lawyers are the best and the brightest but part of the problem with immigration is countries like the US suck up all the doctors, engineers and other educated people. We take the best and brightest leaving these third world countries with slim pickings to build and advance their own nations.
Kill two birds with one stone..................................
