I watched about 5 minutes of the show last night, that's all my ears could take of
her high pitched whine.

I guess maybe I'm the only one who liked the show (me and the other almost 5 million people who tuned in). The scenery is amazing and I'm intrigued by Palin's life in general. I used to really dislike the woman but now I think she's pretty cool.

As to the bears, don't you know they use zoom lenses to make things look closer on TV than they really are? Didn't you hear how she told the guy driving the boat to get ready to make a quick getaway if the bear moved toward them?

So which is it, were they using a zoom lens or were they too close?

"In her television show tonight, Sarah Palin casts herself as a can-do superwoman of the natural world. She fishes, hikes across glaciers and preaches "respect for the elements" from a speedboat while clad in a yellow cagoule. But the programme has already plunged the Mama Grizzly-in-chief into controversy after a leading conservationist in her adopted home of Alaska accused her of flagrant irresponsibility by fishing too close to protected brown bears."

The irony of a right-wing conservative, who boasts of hunting moose and shooting wolves while campaigning for more oil drilling in Alaska, transforming herself into a nature fan for primetime has not been lost on environmentalists.

Large brown bears gather in Wolverine Creek because the fishing is so easy and the animals have, in the process, become a tourist spectacle. But Toppenberg warned that by behaving in an apparently irreverent manner, Palin was doing nothing to foster responsibility among visitors. "She is encouraging the violation of important guidelines that allows tourism to flourish in Alaska. She is inviting future problems with the tourism industry and, in particular, the bear-viewing industry," he said."

Baaawaaaahaaaa, "because the fishing is so easy". hehehehhe. Yep, and SaRAH RAH has broken the 30 foot rule.

The point isn't where our politico's appear, but just how easily we're persuaded by idiotic photo-ops designed to make the candidate look like something they're not.
You know, I'm almost speechless with this comment, considering the imagery, the carefully scripted photo-ops, the contrived facade of the man you voted for in 2008.

I totally agree. Not about Frau Ditz's reality show as I did not watch it nor will I ever, but about Titanic. Several years back Reader's Digest did a minute by minute recount of how, why and what transpired prior to the ship's sinking. It was fascinating and the facts of the ill fated voyage did not need to be embellished with fictional characters and a love story. I enjoyed the film, but I was disappointed that they did not stay on track with the factual strange turn of events.

As for Palin's reality show gig, why would anyone be surprised that the same mindless people that have made her rich and famous tune into her and her mediocre family's show???? She has been very successful at milking a dumbed down populace.

I'm somewhat surprised to read that people are enjoying the beautiful Alaskan scenery as I would imagine Palin would have it taken out or downplayed it so that the attention stay on her.

LMFAO, I read your post and thought, "what? no White has accused someone of pulling the 'race card' yet? And then two posts down from yours, low and behold, there's the 'race card' from the typical rightwing nut.

Thanks for making me laugh.

The comment about the "quick getaway" was for show. You don't make a "quick getaway" from a grizzly. Even trying to make one will almost always guarantee that you won't get away at all...

and I don't think that a zoom lense can be used in such a way to make the distance between the Palins and the bears seem less than it actually was.
