Yeah, he might be a piece of dirt but he is OUR piece of dirt. In yet another example of an endless cycle of American supported corrupt national leaders, Hamid Karzai is playing all sides.

Bags of Money Make the World Go Round - Political Hotsheet - CBS News
Quote:
According to a New York Times report, bags of money are "part of a secret, steady stream of Iranian cash intended to buy the loyalty of Mr. Daudzai (Karzai's chief of staff) and promote Iran's interests in the presidential palace." And, the Karzai administration can play both sides off each other--using the Iranians and U.S. and NATO funders to fill its coffers while holding alleged "peace" talks with the Taliban
Mark Twain once said, "We have the best government money can buy", but in this case, it is we who are the true fools. So how does it feel to support our sworn enemies with our tax dollars, thank you Mr. Bush and thank you Mr. Obama.

So, I say lets start a war with Iran and cut out the middle man

If this is true, Ohhh geezz.... This was suppose to be the just war. We're now stuck between a rock, a hard place and a nuclear bomb. If we cut and run the Taliban claims a win. If we stay, we only help a more corrupt government. If we denounce this we oppose our only opportunity at ending this war. Do you have any suggestions? Any lessors of X evils?

They have always been corrupt. Do you think that will change because we are over there guarding the poppy fields ?

Afghanistan is a lose/lose. Look at their history and the other countries that have went in and then went home with their tails between their legs.

You think we will end up any different ?

Oh and BTW..we are building their infrastructure for them..just to add to your anger over this.

I guess we can say, at least their honest and admitted it.

Iran acknowledges it funds Afghan government

Quote:
TEHRAN, Iran – Iran acknowledged Tuesday it has been sending funds to neighboring Afghanistan for years, but said the money was intended to aid reconstruction, not to buy influence in the office of Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

Karzai said Monday he receives millions of dollars in cash from Iran, adding that Washington gives him "bags of money" too because his office lacks funds.
So, who is the master and who is the servant?

We did get something for our bags of money though, Karzai helped facilitate the return of 1250+ bags, with a US soldier in each one.

Feel like you're getting your monies worth?

Too bad the Bush team wasn't smart enough to just buy a pliable strongman in Afghanistan and Iraq to begin with. They could have saved us over 5000 lives and a trillion dollars.
