It isn't so much the salary, it's the incredible benefits they get. Look them up; you won't feel sorry for these guys afterwards. And those are just the ones we know about
: I guarantee any Washington insider could point out plenty more.
And let's not forget that when they funnel our tax dollars to businesses, they have very lucrative no-show jobs awaiting them after they move out of office. So if they were not rich to begin with (and the vast majority are), they enter the aristocracy when they get elected.
If you think politicians don't have to be rich, try to run for ANY public office.
