Question 2

Here is the question posed in the article and some of the author's comments:

Quote:
2. Do you expect the military system or the civilian courts to deal with the influx of phony sexual harassment cases to follow?

take it to the bank that those who engage in open homosexuality will feel the freedom if not the need begin to portray themselves as victims of harassment pretty much anytime something doesn't go their way.
My answer: There won't be an increase in sexual harassment cases. The hypothetical the author poses is ridiculous. His fear - his homophobia - is completely unfounded. In the very unlikely event something like this happens and some homosexual starts making false reports of sexual harassment, then throw his ass out of the military.

Question 3

Here is the question as posed by the author and some of his comments:

Quote:
3. Will base commanders be required to host "pride" events that allow for similar conduct to the x-rated displays that go on in the nation's cities each year?

There is a reason our best volunteer to serve their nation, and it has nothing to do with speedos, bump or grind.
My Answer: No

Soldiers aren't so weak that they can't handle being near a gay person and *gasp* KNOWING he/she is gay. If they are that weak then maybe they shouldn't be soldiers.

Uh.. there are only four questions in that article. Count 'em yourself.
If you want to discuss the questions please get after it. If you only want to play the game you are playing now please forget me. I want only to discuss the questions and the elementary article. The questions aren't very hard to understand because of that so lets get at it.

Question 4

Here is the question as posed by the author and some of his comments:

Quote:
4. Will all other sexual conduct be made legal as well?

It is still a crime to commit adultery in active military duty, and even more so for officers. How can you possibly be allowing for the flamboyancy of effeminate male soldiers to engage in sexual conduct and their notorious ever wandering lust for the new on one hand, and hold court martial for those who have discreetly hidden their sexual escapades while destroying their families?
My answer: No. Although I guess you could make a legitimate argument that married gays in the military will have a "special" right to adultery since the federal government and the military, by law, cannot recognize any gay marriage. Funny enough, the way to remedy this would be to repeal the bans on gay marriage.

Again, this "question" is just another example of this author's extreme ignorance, bigotry, and homophobia shining through.

Your 26 years came long after my three years so maybe nobody knew back when I was there. I do think that gays were deeper in the closet in the mid and late 50s. I did wear the uniform and did not know one of those people was around me so maybe I am really ignorant.

I have worked with and taught a number of gay people in my day and never knew it till they "came out". Some of them were obvious but not most.

I wonder if that over 60% of the fighters among the Marines in Afghanistan who didn't want that law passed were all haters and homophobes. Somehow I really don't think they were.

Every one of those questions has been discussed to death here on city-data. I thought you might have come up with something new.

Only 4 questions in that article and, as I've already said, all of them have been discussed over and over again in this very forum. Look for the threads if you want to see the answers.

I am not sure that some non-gays won't use that method of getting out of the military when they find they don't like it there. That line of thinking has nothing anti-gay in it as far as I can see. As for the possible increase in that kind of harassment cases, lets just hide and wait to see instead of claiming that it can't or won't happen.

btw, do you know of some method that could be used to throw anyone out for using this complaint? I don't.
