you have no clue about the reality of firearms, stun guns, and other weapons do you?
answer this, you are facing a person intent on killing you, and they are 20ft away. would you rather they have a knife or a gun? and if you were able to be armed, what weapon would you prefer to have in your hands?
i can tell you that i would rather face a person with a gun at 20ft, and i would want a gun in my hands as well.
