Uh..if you're going to make a big deal about them NOT being a peaceful or tolerant people, i think his post is quite relevant.

In 1996, the United States and Iran reached "an agreement in full and final settlement of all disputes, differences, claims, counterclaims" relating to the incident at the International Court of Justice.[6] As part of the settlement, the United States agreed to pay US$61.8 million, an average of $213,103.45 per passenger, in compensation to the families of the Iranian victims. However, the United States has never admitted responsibility, nor apologized to Iran.[7

Hrmm.. wondering if that wiki page is hosed. Those are two different payments.

We apologized and gave the captain of the ship a Legion of Merit award.

In Israel, Kuntar is considered the perpetrator of one of the most brutal terrorist attacks in the country's history,[7] while in Lebanon, where Israel's version of the events is disputed by many and it is denied that he killed the father and his daughter,[8][9] he is widely regarded as a "national hero."

So you actually want to equate deliberately jailing people based solely on their religion with the accidental and regrettable shoot down of an aircraft?

BTW...we live in TODAY'S world and not the past.

The Catholic Church was wrong during the Inquisitions.

Great Britain once had one of the bloodiest histories on Earth.

Germans once exterminated 6 million Jews.

None of those things have much bearing on TODAY. Most civilized nations on Earth TODAY have learned and grown to NOT do such things. Evidently Iran has NOT.

I was actually responding to the people who use the term "religion of Peace" sarcastically. As if the USA has done, and can do no wrong. We do wrong all the time. OH BUT THEY ARE MUSLIM AND EVIL. If only it was that simple to determine who the monsters are. If only.

He didn't just rape the girl. He shot her after he was finished. Then he killed her mother, father and young sister.

He was a US soldier from the Shining city on the hill.

Thank you for finally admitting that, as long as it doesn't involve Israel doing something wrong, that you could care less about everyone else in the world.

We've been waiting for this moment for quite a while from you anti-Israel folks here.

Moving on.

And the catholic church of today is what? Absolutely fine with protecting pedophile priests?

Religion has continually oppressed people.
All religions.
They all deserve blame for what they have done and continue to do to oppress people.
