I'm not a big fan of the UN and have seen how they work close up ... and it ain't pretty. But, lets be honest, we are happy to use the UN when it suits us so its a biy hypocritical to want to use it but not be willing to pay.

How do we benefit in any way from the UN that we couldn't do more effectively without it?

It's usefulness, such as using the violation of UN resolutions as a lame excuse for unnecessary wars of choice, is far too expensive and we'd lose little by cutting our $$$ input and/or 'inviting' the UN to relocate to another country.

I think that their will be coninuing pressure to redcue the amout thatthe US actauly contributes. That is also what will happen to other international contributing really.
