Where I live there's a cal in show where ppl can call in or text comments. One person by the name of 'priscilla' said (or rather texted) we should allow corporations to provide corporate sponsorship to improve schools. No details were given since it was a short text but how does that sound to you?

Fine, but what are they going to do for poor performing schools in rural areas?

What does corporate sponsorship mean? Selling or renting out naming rights of auditoriums and stadiums to corporations and businesses? Advertising in the hallway and cafeteria? Consigning teachers and students to indentured servitude?

Like a really bad Idea. A big part of why the school system is in bad shape is the actions of several foundations including the Carnegie and Rockefeller foundations.

I don't see the harm. I'm not sure it would do any good either. I guess the idea is too vague and unformed to really have an opinion.

The part in bold would be easiest I guess. But if they (the corporations) wanna back up some sorta rise in graduation rate or better scores or better rate of whatever, etc., then they're taking a big risk. Imagine sponsoring some struggling school with lots and lots of moolah, having the press cover it, etc., and then the school doesn't get any better? LOL. The corporation would have their name attached to that fail. And then what would they do? Pull out? That looks bad. If they sponsor a bad school year after year and fudge the numbers, at least they'd gain new loyal customers

The children will be taught how to serve the corporation like slaves.
