Jews have lived in the area non-stop since Biblical times. It is the Arabs who are the invaders and colonizers. That is a simple historical fact.
DNA trumps official versions of "history." The Israeli Jews and Palestinian Arabs have an enormous degree of commingling. Almost all of them have some descent from Palestine-inhabitants of Biblical times. That's not the issue.
The issue is that up to and including 1948, a group of armed and aggrieved Jews demanded not merely to settle, but to rule, 55% of an area of the globe in which they were not even 30% of the population.
They then got admitted to the UN on the grounds that they would allow the return of Arab refugees (Res. 194) which, 62 years later, still remains unenforced.

On November 29, 1947, the United Nations decided on the establishment of a Jewish state and an Arab Palestinian state. The Arab Palestinians did not accept this and were bent on the destruction of the Jewish state.
Prior to this time, Arab Palestinians constantly attacked the Palestinian Jews (1920, 1929, 1936-1939). Therefore the Palestinian Jews had to protect themselves from these attacks.
In 1917 the Balfour Declaration was issued by the British Government declaring their (the British) intention to form a Jewish state in the area known as Palestine without denying the rights of the non-Jewish residents there.
So your claim that a group of armed & aggrieved Jews demanded to settle and rule the area is false.
Isreel is about as much a democracy as the United States. The reality is both are Military/industrial/financially controlled Republics protecting the wealthy with little regard for the fates of most of the population.

I think you summed up the position of the Israel "critics" ("critic" grossly understates their attitude) on this thread. Israel's democratic society is irrelevant to them. It's Israel's existence which they oppose, not it's form of government. And they make that obvious. The vitriol, the hate, the same wild exaggerations and fabrications. Just look up on this page and you can see examples of it. It's in ANY Israel-related thread, no matter what the subject. Many, as you do, hate the US as much as they hate Israel. In fact, there is a relationship there. The hatred for America is extended to any country which is a strong ally.

Great point, but unfortunately this phenomenon is not limited to CD.
Look at any CNN.com news story that has to do with Israel. The comments at the bottom rapidly degenerate into propaganda and insults against zionism and the conflict between Jews and Arabs. This always happens even when the topic of the news story has nothing to do with politics or war.

Yes isn't it great? One thing about the internet. You can't censor it. The truth isn't filtered by some corporate Media executive in NYC scared to death of offending some wealthy corporate client.
How many times would you hear the honest to God truth that a UN report confirmed Israel killed 320 Palestinian "children" in December 07 in response to rocket attacks that killed 8 Israelis over the course of two years?
You would never hear that from the US media.
You must be seriously frustrated how the truth gets out these days?
Israeli Jews are some of the most bigoted and racist people on earth.
Your average Israeli Jew today is as enlightened as your average 1993 Serbian.
As someone who has visited Israel twice as a tourist, but actually lived there once - with a Palestinian Arab family in East Jerusalem, while I was working on a project sponsored by Hebrew University under Professor Yigal Shiloh, I must say that I completely and thoroughly disagree with you. I found Israelis to be a tolerant and thoughtful of their Arab neighbors but a bit leery too which is understandable in view of the many, many acts of terrorism such as suicide bombers, rockets, etc. they have endured.
As far as being bigoted, Israel is the only country I know in the middle east where Palestinian women can flee forced marriage, rape, and "honor killings" to Israeli safe houses. Israeli women enjoy equality that no North African or middle eastern country has. Israel is the only country in the region where gay people enjoy freedom and civil rights and security. There are LGBT community centers in Israeli cities; and gay people celebrate openly out of doors in Israel ... something unheard of in the region and also in SERBIA in particular. Although same-sex marriage cannot (yet) legally performed in Israel, gay couples who get married legally in another country such as Spain where it is legal, is recognized as legal.
