Obama Botches Bible Verse at Prayer Breakfast - Barack Obama - Fox Nation (with comments)

Obama Botches Bible Verse at Prayer Breakfast
President Obama misquoted a familiar Bible verse during a faith-based address at the National Prayer Breakfast.

Obama:
"Those who wait on the Lord will soar on wings like eagles, and they will run and not be weary, and they will walk and not faint,"

But the actual passage, from Isaiah 40:31, states:
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

* NIV version:
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

In context:
"So my prayer this morning is that we might seek His face not only in those moments, but each and every day; that every day as we go through the hustle and bustle of our lives, whether it’s in Washington or Hollywood or anywhere in between, that we might every so often rise above the here and now, and kneel before the Eternal; that we might remember, Kaye, the fact that those who wait on the Lord will soar on wings like eagles, and they will run and not be weary, and they will walk and not faint."
Well, he left out the key phrase, "will renew their strength" (Lit. "exchange" their weakness for God's strength). So, it it changes the meaning entirely. In fact, without that phrase, what does it mean?

I didn't know that Fox had "Bible Police"? This comment shows you are only using this story as a means of yet another attack on Fox. And to score a few points here on C-D from your liberal head bobbing followers.

Further, different translations do not leave out entire phrases, so the fact that different translations exist do not have any bearing whatsoever on Obama's omission.

This thread is devoid of any substance.

Have you compared Fox's ratings to those of all others? Kind of makes your statement above look ridiculous. Believe what you want though.

When you can show proof that Fox has made something up, come back.

The burden of proof is on the news agency, since FOX is a "news" agency, they apparently don't have that burden. As far as the ratings, people like amusing entertainment more than news.

Default Paraphrase?

Pffffft! Please. We aren't stupid!

Do you know what a "paraphrase" is? He wasn't "paraphrasing" He attempted to quote it. And in doing so, he left out the key phrase, making it meaningless!

But you wouldn't know that.

Does Florida Bob work for Media Matters? Or is he a Daily Kos blogger? I think he might be. He sounds more like it with every post.

You obviously don't watch FOX. Don't blame for that, though.

If that was true, Bob, the other networks would be mopping the floor with Fox.

The news agencies will report it if it turns out to be true. This FOX "exclusive" may well turn out the same as, say, the fantasy of the Dems letter calling for Pelosi to quit. As far as news is concerned, they are mopping the floor with FOX.

Ha,ha,ha! You amaze me. We rarely watch anything but Fox in our house. We like to know what's really going on.

No other Network has covered the important issues affecting our country. It's all just pap. No wonder nobody watches them.
