“The protesters have every right to have their voices heard, but I’m not going to be intimidated into thinking I should ignore the voices of the five-and-a-half million taxpayers,” said Republican Gov. Scott Walker…
With no end to the standoff in sight, Gov. Walker said that if the Democratic senators do not return, he’d consider cutting the funding that pays for their staff.
“If they’re not here, it begs the question whether or not they need to have staff,” he said. “They’re not performing their functions.”
Meanwhile, recall petitions are being launched against some of the fugitive Democrats.
Surely recalls that are done by the people who elected the officials can be done. Not every state has the same recall rules but these people don't deserve to keep being paid themselves or to have their staffs paid.
Recall is a device from the midwest that allows the voters to call back any of the people they elected and this may well get very interesting before it ends.
BMW. Built by non-union, American workers in Spartanburg, SC.
Right on. Good call. A lot of people don't realize that many of 'american built' cars are actually built abroad (Mexico for one), while the 'foreign' cars have built factories here in the US. Especially well engineered and built cars.
For some reason I don't think that the Obama people will make up any kind of answer to that one. They know how many Republican governors were elected the last time around and what may well happen to the support Obama had in 2008. I bet you really think Obama will come up with some heavy handed threat, don't you?
Not to mention, taking away this particular right of workers saves very little...
Can you come up with the numbers of those protesters who have been bused in by the national unions and Obama's people. I bet it is more than half the total number of the protesters.
Mr. Walker also bristled at comments by President Barack Obama that his bill "seems like more of an assault" on unions. "When your budget is fixed, you can stick your nose in ours," Mr. Walker said. "But in the meantime, let us fix our budget the way we said we were going to."
Yup that is the GOP way - tax cuts for the wealthy, govt. handouts for corporations and the workers get the leftovers.
