Drazkowski offers GOP’s fourth bill to repeal women’s pay equity act

Rep. Steve Drazkowski, R-Mazeppa, has introduced another version of his bill to repeal the Pay Equity Act (PEA), a program started in the 1980s that ensures that women are paid a comparable wage to men in local government jobs. As of Thursday, when Drazkowski introduced his new bill, Republicans have authored four bills this session aimed at repealing the Pay Equity Act. Twenty-two Republicans in the House and Senate are sponsoring the legislation; 21 of the sponsors are men.
This seems to be a good example of the general mind-set indicated in the "Top 10" list. Are the MN Republican's in this case out of step with Republicans generally? Or would the Republicans in this forum defend the attempts to repeal the equal pay act? And just curious: What percentage of the women in this forum would defend these Republican attempts?

yes repeal a REDUNTANT law

most female actually earn more than men in comparable jobs, with comparable experience

the pay gap, is a liberal lie

fact is there is ALREADY a FEDERAL law on the books

Federal Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Laws

I. What Are the Federal Laws Prohibiting Job Discrimination?

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), which prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Federal Laws Prohibiting Job Discrimination: Questions And Answers

----------

the 'pay gap' is a lie

its total crap of a bill

there is no real gap, its a made up agenda from the politico's

I have 2 laywer friends one male and one female...he makes(charges) 300 an hour, she charges 200 an hour....is there a pay gap.....no....he has 30 years experience, she has 5 years experience

but the politicos will tell you that's a pay gap

and for the ones that "take' less paying jobs.....when you apply for a job, you are a POTENTIAL employee SHOULD KNOW the going rate for that job in that area

If you know a CPA in the new york area with 5 years experience starts at 90k, are you going to accept a job at a 70k rate??? if you do than yes you DESERVE that lower rate, because YOUR YOURSELF lowered your standards

the fact is that ANYONE who is applying for ANY job, should know the going rate for an employee, with such and such experience for that area

as a mechanic, with over 20 yrs eperience, I know that the rate is on 25-35ph, I certainly wouldnt take a job offer of 15ph

the fact is that ANYONE (male, female, black, white, or freaking green) should know a little bit about the field they are choosing and know what the going (a ballpark) rate for the area and amount of experience...if you dont research, how would you even know if you are underpaid..except by scuttlebutt (which most times is not even true)

if you except a job that is lower, you are hurting EVERYONE....

but YOU are allowing the politicos to influence your thinking...

when I said about CPA, I was talking about my SIL,. she is a CPA, she understands what a STARTING salary is, she understands what the AVERAGE salary in a field, in a peticular area is

she knows that a CPA with about 5 years, (kinda starting out, but no completely wet behind the ears) should get about 90k in the new york area..she KNOWS (an educated consumer) that it would be STUPID to take 70k, when the avergage is 90k...on the other hand if she MOVED to North Carolina, she also knows that the average might by only 50k there

why does the left continue to TRY to discriminate and separetae and fractionalize everyone to have everyone waring with each other worriying about what they 'otherperson' gets...why is the left so hilt on classwarfare???
