Why is it that the policies of Democratic administrations over the past 30 years have delivered a robust economy (low unemployment, increasing wages, bull markets, healthy dollar) only to have Republican administrations take over and drag us into recession? Time to hunker down.

Probably because the Democrats inherit the good economies of the Republican administrations and then run them into the ground and hand them over to Republicans. Why do you ask?

Can the o.p. (or anyone else) explain how taxing money out of people pockets makes them more prosperous?
Thanks in advance.

As a Liberal Brown immigrant to the US I disagree.

Obama has doubled the National debt.

Yeah, I forgot how stellar the economics of the Bushes were at the end and all.

Nope. Dems fix it. Did you not live here in 1992 or 2008?

The economy is a cyclical thing. In reality politicians take too much credit for something they usually have almost nothing to do with. Downturns are a part of life is all.

You can only make such a statement if you take the most simplistic view possible to such complex issues.

Maybe you believe that economic policies have an immediate impact. Maybe you believe that congress has no impact. Maybe you believe that influences outside the US won't impact our economy. The truth is our economy is very complex and decisions made can take years before they have any significant influence.

Stick with propoganda, economics isn't your thing.

Actually, both Bush and Clinton received the benefits of Reagan's economy (as well as Clinton receiving the benefits of a GOP Congress that balanced the budget and forced him to sign welfare reform, which he now claims he pushed for). HW Bush (the most recent one) had to recover from 9/11 and actually his economy was doing great before the housing crisis, which was due to Democrat policy.

Bull****, but nice way to try to twist the truth around. And the Bush Jr economy was pretty average. I think you also forget the point that Clinton campaigned on welfare cuts. He was under no obligation to go along with the GOP. They didn't have enough to overturn his vetos. It was a Democratic Congress he had issues getting to go along with. Not that it really spurred the economy along or anything.
