Teachers don't earn their pay? How the hell does that work? Last I heard they had to do stuff like teach classes and correct papers to get that money.

It doesn't matter who is or isn't paid by the tax payers, $250,000 is no where near the poverty level and to say it is while at the same time claiming somebody making $50,000 is rolling in the dough is utter stupidity.

So thanks a pant load to all those who didn't see how much this kind of thing undermines our country and our freedoms.
I agree one thousand percent.

They also have to teach hundreds of kids and meet with the parents. It doesn't sound hard at first, but when you really think about it, teachers should be getting paid more than just $50K a year.

And to the people who say that they get summer vacation off, they only get July and half of August off. They don't leave school until two weeks after the students do, and they start school about two weeks before the students do as well.

private union, the union is barganing with/against a CEO, an owner, a board....

a PUBLIC union, those workers, work for the taxpayer

and you want to know WHY it is a problem to have 'collective barganing' in the PUBLIC SECTOR............The problem is there is no REAL "collective bargaining." ......Public sector unions are a client of a political bureaucracy that wants their vote. The taxpayer - the "employer" - isn't a player in the bargaining process......

even FDR knew the difference....

"""Meticulous attention should be paid to the special relationships and obligations of public servants to the public itself and to the government. All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations ... The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for ... officials ... to bind the employer ... The employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives " FDR 1937

I agree with you. That's why we should show a little more respect and sympathy for them because teaching our kids is not an easy task and deserves more than $50K a year.

you are kidding right
???

the problem has never been the actual teachers...its the ADMIN and the greedy unions

btw...most liberals on here are argueing that households like (teachers 110k, and a cop, 140k) make 250k (even though they are workingclass professions) are RICH

the point is that PUBLIC unions should not have barganing power

How are unions greedy exactly? I've been following some of them in the news and while some of these guys are whiners, most of them aren't nearly as bad as FOX News and the Right paint them out to be.
