And most of those who hate him are apparently hypocrites. They claim to be for free markets and when those very same markets raise the price of things they sing the blues and attempt blaming the man instead of the free market system they allegedly love.
I've had to pay $4.19 a gallon too. I just can't afford this kind of gas.
However, I'm no expert on how oil works, but could someone explain to me how one man has so much control over oil prices?
Obama was not responsible for my local exxon dealer charging 3.99 for gas on Tuesday night, and then raising it to $4.13 a gallon Wednesday morning. It's the exact same gas in the underground tank, and the gas station paid the same amount for it. So why is the exact same gas going up 14 cents in one night?
Gas stations are extorting people. It should be illegal to raise gas prices 14 cents over night. It's the EXACT same gas.
They aren't extorting people. They are charging you for what it will cost them to fill their underground tanks in two weeks. It's called a futures market. The gas stations make very little off the sale of gasoline. That's why they got all the garbage for you to impulse buy when you walk in the door.

If speculations are driving gas prices up - then the constant refusal to allow pipelines and drilling is helping that negative trend in speculations. To that end, the President is to blame or praise (if he would allow). Beyond that - other factors (other than the prez) are to blame. It's not all his fault, but he does share part of the blame.
A lot of what drives up gas prices is speculation, and also public policy and attitudes towards gas. Obama has made a dent in that regard. Much of the prices though cannot be attributed directly to him.

So have at it libs, tell us what a genius Obama is. The economy is tanking again and he and his buds at the NYT are ginning up a fake culture war about womens rights - http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/11/us...0rights&st=cse
And no fair blaming Bush, the "new normal" is Obama's achievement.
Getting pi$$ed at only having the ability of a single focus point, is not the fault of Obama, the Libs , the Mooslims .... or anybody but you.

I can't speak for what exactly the speculators were worried about (as I was in Iraq for that whole year and didn't really pay attention to it that much), but the wars Bush got us into certainly had to be a big part of it.
$5.69 and $5.99 out by me in California. Those were Obama's national goals for our gas prices and he has at least succeeded in Cali.
