So have at it libs, tell us what a genius Obama is. The economy is tanking again and he and his buds at the NYT are ginning up a fake culture war about womens rights - http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/11/us...0rights&st=cse
And no fair blaming Bush, the "new normal" is Obama's achievement.

I've had to pay $4.19 a gallon too. I just can't afford this kind of gas.
However, I'm no expert on how oil works, but could someone explain to me how one man has so much control over oil prices?
Obama was not responsible for my local exxon dealer charging 3.99 for gas on Tuesday night, and then raising it to $4.13 a gallon Wednesday morning. It's the exact same gas in the underground tank, and the gas station paid the same amount for it. So why is the exact same gas going up 14 cents in one night?
Gas stations are extorting people. It should be illegal to raise gas prices 14 cents over night. It's the EXACT same gas.
Yes, to a degree, I did, and there's a very simple reason for that: Bush and Cheney were married to the oil industry, which has steadfastly opposed fuel efficiency standards and any policy that would result in potentially fewer profits for their sector of the economy. Obama has no such ties, and progressives in general have been warning of this for decades.
What you're paying for is 40 years of head-in-sand energy policy. If you really think things are going to change for the better under a Republican president, you're seriously deluded. If anything it's their policies that encourage more dependence on oil, less development of energy alternatives, and generally encourages the American consumer to waste more energy, exacerbating things for themselves in the first place.
You're right, we've not had an energy policy, since we needed one from the mid '70's.
Didn't President Obama run on "Hope and Change"? I believe we were seriously deluded, if we believed that then.

And wanted to note I saw gas prices on a business trip last week that were 4.39 per gallon so be happy yours weren't that high.
I don't blame the president for high gas prices. He really has nothing to do with the price of gas, but I do blame him for not having a more stringent energy policy as I do believe we need to pull away from our dependence on oil. If I were a believing sort of person though, I would put more faith in him on making strides toward us becoming less dependent on oil versus a GOP candidate.
FWIW I paid $3.65 a gallon yesterday for gas and that was lower than it was in 2005 when gas was around $4.59 after hurricanes Katrina and especially Rita. I didn't blame Bush for it either. Luckily I live closer to my employment now than I used to (got smart after those high gas prices and moved close to my job to save money) so I don't use as much gas. My vehicle also gets 30mpg so that saves money. I can get by on $20 a week and still have gas left over. Hopefully the OP and others who complain about the cost of gas can make similar changes which are not only good for your pockets but for the environment as well.
