A Dane County judge Friday ordered a temporary halt to Gov. Scott Walker's controversial measure curbing collective bargaining for public employees, saying a legislative committee likely violated the state Open Meetings Law when it rushed passage of the bill earlier this month.
Now that the dems are back, why not just vote on the original bill?
It was stripped from the budget bill so that they could vote on it without the democrats present. Therefore, the original bill no longer contains the non-budget issue of collective bargaining.
Ozanne, a Democrat, the guy who asked for and received a temporary restraining order against the law was never elected to the position. He was selected as a replacement for the former DA who was elected to the state appellate court. Ozanne had two letters of recommendation, the next closest candidate had 77 letters of recommendation.
Some question if Ozanne is working in the best interest of the people or paying a public debt.
They didn't violate anything. The law has been posted already. The judge is wrong and this will get overturned.
Wrong.
Here is the law;
Quote:
(3) Public notice of every meeting of a governmental body shall be given at least 24 hours prior to the commencement of such meeting unless for good cause such notice is impossible or impractical, in which case shorter notice may be given, but in no case may the notice be provided less than 2 hours in advance of the meeting.
