I was answering someone's statement that even if he were born overseas, he would still be a U.S. citizen -- I was not making any statement of belief about his place of birth from a personal standpoint (go read the original post).

Anyway, it appears that maternal age DOES matter in conferring citizenship on a child.

The Washington claim states, "If in fact Obama was born in Kenya, the laws on the books in the United States at the time of his birth stated if a child is born abroad and one parent was a U.S. Citizen, which would have been his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, Obama's mother would have had to live ten (10) years in the United States, five (5) of which were after the age of fourteen (14). At the time of Obama's birth, his mother was only eighteen (18) and therefore did not meet the residency requirements under the law to give her son (Obama) U.S. Citizenship much less the status of 'natural born.'"

Um wow. Nice use of smiley faces. So I guess you can tell me how The certificate of live birth is not as good as a "long form Birth Certificate" since by law it is stated as being the equivalent. There is more than enough evidence in this thread to prove so. You just need to read it. Its just funny that none of the other presidents ever had to produce their "original birth certificate" at any time to the public. I'm sure if they had it would have be a documented copy which would have been the equivalent proof needed to established their residence. It really is a shame that "tens of millions" of "Americans" truly believe that he wasn't born in Hawaii. But then again, its has to be one big conspiracy since both republicans and democrats are in on this and have been since 1961. I mean really? So, what are you and the tens and tens of millions of people that believe he wasn't born here gonna do if Trump actually gets his hands on the document and shows the world that yes he was indeed born in Hawaii. Would your "movement" end or would you just think the Trump has sold out to Obama? Sheesh.

Different states have different requirements. The information that is on the Hawaii Birth Certificate matches everything that is required nationally, perhaps what is on the short form in California and Texas do not meet the same national standards that is on the Hawaii certificate.

That doesn't explain the requirement for the photoreproduced copy of the original long form birth certificate.

If it was just a matter of adding anorther field or two to the COLB, they could have easily done that. Instead, a photoreproduced copy of the original record is required.

Self-proclaimed birther Donald Trump is now so doubtful of President Obama's birthplace that he's sent a team of his own investigators to Hawaii in hopes of getting to the bottom of the issue.

That's according to Trump himself, who, in an interview with NBC, warned his investigators just might uncover "one of the greatest cons in the history of politics and beyond."

"I have people that have been studying it and they cannot believe what they're finding," Trump said an interview that aired Thursday Morning.

Asked if he has assigned people specifically to search in Hawaii, Trump said, "Absolutely."

Trump is a man that says what's on his mind. There's no question about where he stands. Whether right or wrong about his beliefs there's one thing Trump is doing that every other potential presidental candidate is not doing - admitting that there is huge doubt that Obama was (is) eligibile to serve as POTUS.

I truly hope that Trump does run because he will force the other candidates to address this issue in depth, instead of just waving it off for purely political reasons.
OMG.......when will people get past this....how can the country go forward and solve it's problems when a huge chunk of the population dwells on absurd conspiracy theories like "Death Panels" and "Birth Certificates"......

Look, nobody's afraid of Trump. It's most likely a publicity stunt; he's historically been one to seek the spotlight to increase his own visibility. By increasing his visibility, he hopes to increase his wealth. Or maybe he's just bored.
Or maybe he just really cares about the direction in which this country is heading?

A CA record no longer meeting the federal standard or being sufficient has nothing to do with whether a HI record meets the federal standard or is sufficient.

Edit: turns out I have to spread some more reputation around before I can give it to PITTSTON2SARASOTA again.
