First of all, I don't like the headline of the thread. There are girls being put in harms way too.
In any case, I don't know if going into Libya is the right thing to do. I was against the Iraq War.
My heart tells me I want everything done to get rid of Gadhafi, but we don't know who these rebels truly are. What if they are worse than him? What do we do after defeating Gadhafi?
Will we just leave or we going to occupy Libya? (which BETTER not happen).

I don't believe in a draft but I do believe in mandatory military service. In my opinion if one young American is sent off to war all our young people should be. Why should one kid be fighting for their country while the others stay back and party, go to college and enjoy their youth free and clear.
This Libyan crisis will turn ugly mark my word. It's not about democracy, it's about a bunch of adolescent minded idiot leaders. I mean look at this picture..........it speaks VOLUMES about the world we live in and just what goes on behind the backs of the American and European people. And we just grab our ankles and take it. Pathetic.
"The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation."
- Senator Obama
He doesn't care about dying American soldiers as long as they are white.

Only liberals will see a difference between Libya and Iraq.
Yes, what do we do after? We'll be unable to get out on a timely basis and the Muslims will start killing Christians and Jews once they get control.
As a conservative, I never saw the sense in Bush's politically correct Iraq war, he would claim Islam is the religion of peace which meant any good could not come from our current involvement over there. Now we have another politically correct war in the Middle East.

We already have enough issue with the public school system brainwashing students, now you want the military to have a crack at em?
Volunteerism is the best way.
"Mandatory service" indicates we are without free will and are here but to serve the state at it's whims.
Please explain how intervening in the affairs of a non-threatening sovereign nation,further bankrupting our own country and killing off our own troops and innocent civilians in the process, is the "right thing to do"
1 - America supports the right of all people to self determination. We also support basic human rights.
2 - There are some situations that violate these principals in such a profound way that civilized people are compelled to act.
3 - If diplomacy has failed (or cannot reasonably be expected to succeed);
military action is the only/best option;
we have a reasonable chance of success;
our mission is clearly defined;
we have the support of the world community;
and we have an exit strategy;
then military action is warranted.
PS - Your same argument was used to oppose American involvement in WWII.

It's called an all-volunteer force.
