It would be a budgeting nightmare for the government and death for retail sales. A national sales tax gives the consumer a reason NOT to consume.
Like they're given a reason NOT to work now. Death for retail sales? How would that be?

The shareholder have ZERO say on the salaries of companies in which they've invested. CEO compensation is determined by the board.

You will think twice when state and national sales tax would add $250 in tax on a $1000 purchase. Of course, that's assuming the combined state and national sales taxes + a combined 25%. (which is probably not too far off)

You seem to be discounting the savings on the manufacturing of goods, which will offset the purchase costs, and the boost totthe economy realized when corporation needn't pay taxes or tax attorneys, etc., etc...... The savings to manufacturers would be so significant that the prices of goods would fall. Try this comparison. http://www.pafairtax.org/resrcs/Flat...Comparison.pdf

You should do that. Just send a few thousand extra to the IRS. Nobody will stop you.

This numbers in this video puts our dire situation into perspective.
Maybe somebody can debunk the video so I'll feel a bit better.

His numbers are correct but that does not mean we have to increase taxes.

We just need to make drastic cuts in spending.

NO, but the wealthy should pay taxes. and pay their fair share. General Electric and some other big corporations do not pay any taxes at all. That is wrong. Tax those corporation that take their business over seas.

Some one making $500,000 and pay 30% in taxes and someone making $150,000 and pay 30%. What is wrong with this picture?

I'm about to the point where I wish they would repeal ALL the Bush tax cuts, including the $3 trillion's worth that will go to the bottom 98% of us over the next decade. True, it would cost the top 2% $700 billion in higher taxes over the decade, but at least we would have fewer sacks of deadweight non-payers, who now seem to spend all their time on message boards crying about "tax cuts for every millionaire and billionaire."

Not for S Corps , LLCs, etc. The business owner(s) report the profits as income on their personal tax returns, and personal income tax is paid on the profits. That's why raising the income tax rate on those earning $250K or so will kill small businesses and jobs.
