You act as if it's independent of the nation states that comprise it. It's like so many other organizations, the members have to step to make the organization as a whole do things.
Yeah, they did a 10 year step dance around Saddam Hussein as he broke ceasefire agreements over and over. They are a do nothing organization. If something gets serious enough, they'll chat about it for 2-3 years and wait for something else to come up and change their focus.

True indeed. The focus seems to change quickly. I recall when Kofi Anon was
presiding over the UN he usually had some statement of condemnation for the United States....much more so than other nations....At times he was justified but for the most part he did his best to get a "Photo-op" and put on his best "Nevile Chamberlain We Have Peace in Our Time face." Bucking for a Nobel Peace Prize no doubt. A useful fool in a useless organization which was and is useful to every rogue element on the planet.

We are of course as informed as all of the folks sitting on the East River and around the globe who tackle this stuff, we don't need no UN do we?
We certainly don't need to understand why such an organization exists or why it moves slowly. nah, who cares? It's easier to play victim and not educate ourselves (or we dare to become some intellectual type person n' stuff).
I say, UN would be a great condo converted building. Any realtors on this site...?
The UN, like most Liberal organisations, is anti-white and anti-capitalist. I'm sure the "US/West" is to blame for this yet-another African crisis.
That's right, whites are in fact the victims here. And you know what...
No need to research that. We know that.... No schoolin' necessary for that in depth observation.

It isn't that they're not well-informed; it isn't that they move slowly. It's that they don't move even though they are well-informed. It's clear why they exist. It's also clear that they do not serve their intended function. Having an existing organization is not the goal. The goal is to get their job done which they aren't doing.
Let's be realistic here---horrific ethnic crime nowadays just doesn't "sell" unless it involves riches or racism.....The Congo isn't seen as a vast source of wealth (like Iraq)--and there is no "racial" angle to the mayhem going on there. It's just "black-on-black" barbarism, and the press isn't interested. You can bet if white South Africans were involved, it would be given daily front-page coverage around the world. But, since there are no racist whites involved to "get mad at", the media just yawns. Far safer to stay on the sidelines than to take a stand critical of non-whites-- it would be a no-win situation for any newspaper editor.
Meanwhile, the US, understandably, is terrified of getting involved in what would inevitably be seen as "black people's business". There is no possible way that our involvement would not rapidly become bogged down in a never-ending tangle of charges and counter-charges of racism and "butting in". Our bitter experience in Iraq has driven home the undeniable point that there's just no way to get involved in a "domestic" situation and not end up being hated by ALL sides. As for the UN, as I said before, they're "studying it".

I detect a closet Real Estate Developer.......Make a huge profit and pay the kind and loving folks at the UN to do something beside study.

Well stated.......Stay away from "Family Squabbles." Perhaps the UN can "Study" what their purpose is. When they discover( if ever) their purpose who knows they may even issue a statement.
