A Georgia county’s board of commissioners has voted to keep the Confederate flag flying at the local courthouse, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
While the Dixie battle cross was removed from the state flag in 2003, it has continued to fly at the Dodge County courthouse in Eastman, Ga., as part of a memorial to Confederate war dead.
Unless you live in Dodge Co., GA it aint none of your affair. I would suggest the 3rd National flag of the CSA instead of the battle flag IF i lived there.
Seems they are comfortable in their prejudice by flying that flag. Considering the fact that the state of Georgia considered at one point leaving the confederacy, I think these dudes don't even know their state's history.

And you have a problem with a historical flag being flown because of your prejudices.

They took up arms against the USA (and the best interests of the slaves, who were fellow Georgians and Southerners), in a war that according to Confederate Vice-President Stephens (a Georgian, by the way), the immediate cause of which was the desire to preserve slavery, which he referred to as the natural state of the Negro....in other words a war against a form of human liberty. White Southerners did not acknowledge the last fact because they did not consider the slaves to be human. In other words, the sentiments of VP Stephens reflected the common view. And segregation, voter suppression, lynching, debt personage, miscegenation prohibitions, forced convict labour (with blacks often rounded up on trumped up charges for the purpose) and other evils continued for several generations after the war There was once a period of nearly fifty years when not a single white person was convicted of murdering a black person, a drought that was broken when a plantation owner resorted to mass murder to keep working conditions on his plantation from coming to light. fThe South has much to be proud of today, why can't they ditch the symbolism of a war that killed six hundred thousand plus in a futile defense of such a worldview and economy in favor of newer symbols of the South prmoting a more modern and humane system of vales of human dignity and respect...ones that celebrate racial inclusiveness rather than harkening back to the days of slavery? The South is known for it's music, art, and literature, and it's up and coming regions...why can't they come up with new symbols? Wouldn't such a symbol do a MUCH better job of reflecting the views of modern day Georgians and Southerners than anything connected to the Confederacy? Symbolism can change to meet new realities...after all, what were the symbols of the South BEFORE the war?

Why is there a memorial to dead confederate soldiers at the courthouse, why not put it in a cemetery or a battlefield but certainly not a government institution that administers justice.
