Yes, go ahead and diminish human suffering to a joke. It's the Republicans who most openly support torture. It's the Republicans who do things that make it harder for the average person. It's the Republicans who would rather give tax breaks to corporations and ignore the dwindling middle class. Not to say all Republicans are heartless goons nor to say that there are no Democrats who are the same, but on most issues, Republicans side with the most hurtful or difficult 'solutions'. Is there a reason why they opposed the Motor Voter bill (years ago) other than politics? Is there a reason they water down consumer protections and environmental and worker safety? Any legislation that makes it easier for people to live their supposedly free lives is opposed by Republicans in favor of other interests, like corporations that they will never hold accountable. If it's related to human beings, it's bad. If it's related to profits, it's good.
I listen to Republicans and conservatives complain and I point out where such complaints are unfounded and/or unnecessary and I learn from them as well. On hearing the same thing from the left and seeing the response, I always picture the right/conservatives to be like the proverbial Southern klansman laughing at how their victim squirms from the noose. Heartless in other words, as if the suffering of others is just not enough to raise a pulse. Or is this assessment too dramatic and therefore ignorable? Just read the posts from the others on 'your side'. Deaf ears, not constructive responses. And almost every response proves the OP's point!
Check out the zeitgeist movement even if it's not the answer it will make us think of a better solution. Democracy no longer works if it did their wouldn't be millions of unemployed. It's time for a better way.

They don't want gays to marry and have a family with the same rights as everyone else. They don't want senior citizens to get medicare/medicade
or social security. They get payoffs from the oil companies and expect us to all pay at the pump. They get payoffs from the drug companies and expect us to do without or pay through the nose. They said they were the party that would protect us but 9/11 happened on their watch. They said they were the physically conservatives but put us in the greatest debt this country has ever seen by going into a war with Iraq instead of going after bin-Laden. They want to take away unions and let the CEO's continue to take away employees' pensions while they keep their golden parachutes. They are great at starting wars but never finish them.
Yes, why do Republicans want to hurt people ? I really want to know.
The only thing I can think of is they're being paid off by the CEO's and large corporations and the rest of us are will get the shaft and they don't care.
First of all, why don't you adopt an adult, or a family? And nextly, be the better party and you get my vote. AND, don't be so predigested. Are all Demonstrates gay ? all Republicans straight...............It is not so simple........people do good people do bad, good people do bad to do what they think is right, bad people do good to relieve their guilt, or to buy good publicity.........no one is prefect and people flip back and forth, sometimes they cycle............

You call it "making things difficult" or "hurtful" but I call it making people fend for themselves and taking personal responsibility.
When will liberals stop projecting their ideology on others?
Whoever wrote the line below, is my hero.
"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a
delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an
unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
The democrats, who call themselves progressives, who are in actuality liberals in hiding, are the worst racist, fear mongering, hating people I've known in my entire life. And that is a fact.
