CONCORD, N.H. -- The mother of a Concord middle school student is decrying the school district after her daughter was suspended due to a Facebook post.
Kimberly Dell'isola said her daughter was suspended for five days after saying she wished Osama bin Laden killed her math teacher.
Oh give me a break! If a teacher can lose their job over a blog or Facebook posting, your child can be suspended for such a threat. Being 13 is not an excuse.
Maybe have the kid delete the post and write an essay about what happened on 9/11?
Parents should curtail web access for a month.
Suspension is a bit extreme.
I guess freedom of speech does not apply to children.
(Note to kid: Killing the teacher does not remove your responsibility to learn math. Maybe next time pray to the "martyr" Osama that he miracle you an "A")
Doesn't Facebook have a minimum age user policy? Guess she is just eligible (13). Well, her parents should have been monitoring her computer usage better.

Agree. I think suspension is the easy way out for the school. The kid is not going to learn anything by being suspended, and gee, she doesn't even have to go to school! In schools, as in criminal justice, I believe the punishment should be more appropriate to the crime, and more directed toward education and restitution than punishment.
She shouldn't get suspension where she can probably play around at home. Instead she should have a seven day in school suspension with the math teacher in question.
