"The crying woman told a 911 operator she “shot him as much as I could” and moments later police found her would-be attacker dead in the back yard of her Gwinnett County home.

The woman was getting out of the shower when 34-year-old Israel Perez Puentes, armed with a knife, dragged her to the bedroom where he planned to rape her, police said. Her fear was evident in the recording of her call for help......"

The only problem I see here is she should have had a bigger weapon. A .22 is no defense against a big man and she was lucky that she had time to shoot the whole clip.

Good for her she unloaded the whole clip that's the way to do it. The only sad news is they did not report him as dead

It's true that a .22 is way to small for self defense but maybe that's the only gun she could handle. If she's arthritic, has small hands, or whatever maybe she can't handle the recoil from anything larger. A well placed shot from a .22 is better than a .45 being sprayed all over the room and missing the target......

You can empty a 22 very fast and there's almost no recoil and not a very loud retort. A 357 going off in a small room is deafening, has large recoil( especially for a woman) and you could miss or not get a follow shot off that hits. And you WILL know you've been shot from a 22. It might not kill you instantly but blood loss and injury will make you more intent on getting away and not confronting the shooter.
I think she handled herself well and apparently took an animal off the streets permanently. But I'll wait to hear the whole story and hear the official police report after they're done with their investigation. These days so many weird things happen where you hear one story and then it suddenly changes.

And score one for guns.

This is just another example why people need guns. And was this rapist even from this country or here illegally? Very likely he's a foreign rapist criminal allowed to come here and prey on the citizens.

Got the job done, didn't it?

A 22 bullet through anyone's face should slow him down...don't you think?

If a victim shoots ANY gun the attacker will think twice about continuing the attack.
