I haven't heard this mentioned in the news. Actually, it is rare to hear anything about Afghanistan these days. Maybe this is why. I can see how Obama would not want the press reporting on a 500% increase in the casuality rate under his watch.
That happens when you actually fight a war instead of putting it on the back burner. Take it up with the military I am sure they have a reply for ya.

That might account of the increae in casualties but it doesn't begin to explain why the media is not reporting on it. That's OK. No explanation needed. We all know they are in the tank for Obama and anything that would make him look bad gets covered up, spun, or blamed on Bush. I expect 300 years from now the experssion "It's Bush's fault" will be used the same way "The devil made me do it" was in the past. People won't even know the origin of the phrase; it will just be tossed around as an idiom.

Ended the war in Iraq or just our part of that war? Either way, as has been widely reported but little acknowledged, "ending" the war in Iraq had more to do with paying the Sunnis to join the war (or at least drop out of it) along with promises to be included in what was previously a Shia exclusive power structure. But hey, why get bogged down in details.

Remember the surge and all? Obama thought that he could do the same on a different battlefield and it would work.
Apparently you didn't read my post. because the it was Gen Patreaus and his prototoge argued that they could do the same on a different battlefield and it would work and Obama, listening to the generals, gave them the chance to prove their theories. He also told them at the time, that if their ideas didn't pan out, as Biden vociferously argued that they wouldn't, that he would begin pulling the troops out. So instead of doubling down as Patreaus et. al. would like, Obama is doing just what he said he would do.

BULL CRAP! The ROE's that changed occured when McChrystal took command in Afghanistan.

However, as pointed out above, the more boots on the ground, the more opportunities for a greater body count - on both sides - the less collateral damage occurs, and less chance of insurgents being born out of "mis-drops" or faulty equipment accidents.

Your assertion that the Commander in Chief imposed a change in ROE is not only wrong, but asinine wrong.

You want to blame someone, blame Gen. Mac.

The death toll of the Russians also varied, but in the end they were beaten. You can't beat the Taliban with a military.
Nor can you compare Iraqis with Afghans, different mentality, in Afghanistan fighting invaders has a long tradition. People are poor, thus money is no problem to them, nothing to lose. They can continue that war for decades while the US goes broke.
From the Afghans' perspective they are the good ones and Westerners are the bad ones, that is a huge motivation and mental advantage.

What would we expect? 0bama's generals said the needed 60,000 troops to defeat the Taliban in the south and the east, and the bare minimum was 40,000, 0bama gave them 75% of the bare minimum. Even with 25% fewer troops, 0bama told them to stick to the plan.

So our brave men and women were spread too thin, with too little support, and hundreds of them died. Then 0bama compounded their problems, and kicked them in the balls, by telling the world he was going to pull the troops out after a year. How the hell can we ask the local people in Afghanistan to paint a bulls eye on their forehead, by helping us, when they knew we were going to leave them to fend for themselves in a year or so? Did we expect anything else?

He's still trying to decide what his strategy is for Candyland.

But he is genuinely concerned about the casualties - they almost caused him to miss a 3-foot putt last week.
