A serious argument could be made that Cuban Americans received more government entitlements, student loans, business loan guarantess, and other benefit and entitlements than any other immigrant group in history. No wonder they are such partiotic Americans.
Or, it's b/c they truly understand what they've been given, appreciate it and want to give back. All of what you're saying would mean they would be Democrats, anyway.
Cubans experienced oppression by the hands of a iron-fisted communist, and when they come to America they see the conservative base as one of freedom to work hard and earn your keep and not have the government try to redistribute your wealth.
Yes. Cuban-Americans have voted GOP largely because of the GOP's strong anti-communist stance, and because they are relatively well off economically among Latin Americans in the U.S. In this respect, they are no different from any other American who votes his wallet.

This political alignment is changing with the younger generation of Cuban Americans, who are no longer as reliably Republican as their parents and grandparents. Emigre politics no longer animates Cuban Americans who grew up in the USA.
I am Mexican American and support Rubio --- I don't buy into the whole victimized, oppressed minority jive. That's the Democrats way of keeping many Hispanics as their voting base. And they received a lot of $pecial treatment that they DID NOT earn. It's called the Cuban Adjustment Act. The US government is still sending money their way. Do some research before you buy their sob story about hard work.

If it weren't for Fidel Castro, the Cuban immigrants would not have received as much money as they have. There is no appreciation for what they're being given. There is a lot of entitlement and arrogance. And the reason they're Republicans is because JFK didn't send in American troops to liberate their island.
No. They vote Repub because they are white wanna-bes and came from the richer sratum of Cuban life. these were the folks who looked down on black Cubans and continue to carry on in this country just like they did in Batista's Cuba. They will bore you to death with their sob stories about how poor that they were when they came to this country. But they still had their education, their whiteness and help from an all too willing US Gov't willing to give them assistance ( a Democratic administration I might add). Once they took all of the handouts, they thanked the Dems by turning into Repugs. No different than the Vietnamese after them.

I also notice that despite the Duvalier dictatorship being deadlier, that policy doesn't exist for Haitians.
